We have pledged to "Switch Off" for Oxfam Trailwalker
March 24, 2015

This weekend of (March 28-29, 2015), thousands of committed everyday-people will converge in Taupō to complete 100km in 36 hours and raise funds to help Oxfam overcome poverty and injustice. We're proud to be a founding member of the ‘Switch Off Club” and are supporting their sustainability efforts.

We’re part of an initiative to bring together Taupō businesses in helping further reduce the energy footprint for Oxfam Trailwalker. Alongside our existing eco initiatives, we will be reducing our energy consumption even further over the course of the event!

The energy saved will help offset Oxfam Trailwalker’s energy usage and support Oxfam’s commitment to environmental sustainability. ‘Switching off’ is good for the planet.

Last year Taupo DeBretts Resort helped Oxfam save 42.18 kWh/ 5.69 CO2eKg of energy! We're challenging ourselves to beat last years effort. The energy we saved helped offset Oxfam Trailwalker 2014’s energy usage and for the first time, Oxfam Trailwalker became power positive by 24%.

Good luck to everyone participating in this year's event!

You can also donate directly through the Oxamfam Trailwalker website to help them reach their $1000,000 fundraising target. Your donations enable them to continue their great work of helping people live a life of hope and opportunity.

They are also looking for more awesome volunteers to help run the event. Visit their website to find out if you can help.
