Taupo DeBretts achieves the prestigious Qualmark Enviro GOLD Award

We are proud to announce that Taupo DeBretts has been awarded the highly prestigious Qualmark Enviro GOLD Award. This accolade recognises very high standards of eco-friendly practices.

Taupo DeBretts joins an elite group of Enviro Gold recipients nationwide. To earn the New Zealand tourism environmental award, the team has had to show effectiveness in energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, community activities and conservation initiatives.

Tim Keeling, General manager of Qualmark New Zealand says "the team at Taupo DeBretts Thermal Resort have put in a commendable effort to ensure the aspire to the highest levels of environmental and social responsibility. Qualmark is proud to again recognise this commitment with the achievement of a Qualmark Enviro Award Gold. This award is provided only to quality tourism businesses who display strong environmental advocacy and leadership."

Since August 2008, all tourism businesses with a Qualmark rating have had their environmental performance assessed under Responsible Tourism Operations criteria as part of on-site quality assessments. Businesses performing well in reducing environmental impact in five key action areas (mentioned above) are eligible to apply for Enviro-Gold, Enviro-Silver or Enviro-Bronze Awards.
