Whakaipo Lodge Summer Concert
Saturday, 29 February 2020 04:00PM

he 2020 Summer Concert at Whakaipo Lodge will feature some familiar faces and some new ones. Regular cast members include Andrew and Kirsten London, whose quirky satirical songs like ‘I Hugged My Mate’ and ‘Middle Aged Man in Lycra’ will be well-known to Whakaipo fans and are part of Kiwi musical folklore. Headlining the show this year, however, will be Rob Joass and his band Hobnail, who are currently celebrating their 25 year anniversary with a National Tour. Describing themselves as ‘Classic Celtic Country Folk’, Hobnail combine those influences with superb musicianship and skilful songwriting and deliver an energetic show that guarantees a good time, honed as it has been over two and a half decades on the road. The usual all-in jam session will round out the afternoon. Concertgoers can expect to be taken on a musical roller coaster ride with elements of comedy, satire and pathos alternating throughout the show, but good ole’ rock’n’roll will never be far from the front. Bring along a sun hat, picnic basket & rug or chair and enjoy the greatest little gig of the Summer. Locally sourced, delicious refreshments will be available for purchase. Limited tickets.
