Great Lake Taupo

Located in the heart of New Zealand’s North Island, Great Lake Taupō is undoubtedly one of the world’s most beautiful and magical places. The film location for The Lord of The Rings movie, the region is famous for the many activities you can do on and around the crystal blue Lake Taupo, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fresh water lake.

Activities available in the area are as diverse as the landscape itself, which boasts beautiful scenery, breathtaking waterfalls and the World Heritage Tongariro National Park. The region is an active geothermal area nad one of the unique differences as you’ll see spectacular steaming mountains, geysers, boiling lakes, bubbling mud pools and thermally heated hot pools. Home of the most visited tourist site in New Zealand, the mighty Huka Falls will leave you speechless.

For adventure lovers the region is ideal, with activities ranging from the highest drop zone for skydiving, bungy jumping, skiing on an active volcano, jet boating and world class trout fishing. So much to do…or relax in the thermal hot pools and do nothing at all.

We had a fantastic time and loved the park and pools – amazing! To sum it up the staff are friendly, the facilities are clean and the sites are tidy and surrounded by trees. Great Stuff, Jucy will be back!
